The story of our hotel starts with Vid Morpurgo...

Vid Morpurgo was all-around Split resident best known for his bookstore which exists to this day. In the place where our gorgeous hotel is, Morpurgo set the foundation for the first steam powered alcohol distillery in Split and it's wide area.

He was manufacturing all kinds of alcohol, schnapps, brandies and extracts for the liqueur factories. Vid Morpurgo was one of the first Split's ambassadors, the products of his distillery were poured into beautifully designed bottles with etiquette, and shipped abroad. This distillery's products were winners of the many international awards.

Though, the first drops of the famous Split brandy, Stock, came out from Morpurgo's distillery. The circumstances back then made the production impossible, so the factory was moved to Trieste, where is still in function.

From the roots of the first alcohol distillery, our hotel blossomed. We at Azur Palace are extremely proud of our hotel's heritage and in the spirit of the tradition, we continue in the same tone. As a welcoming drink, we offer to our beloved guests the višnjevac, cherry liqueur made by the old way of Mr. Morpurgo, thus keeping his spirit alive today in the city under Marjan.

This spot is great. Close to the center of old town, clean, modern and exceptionally polite people running it. Then gave us a great recommendation for dinner, too!

What a find! Everything about the Azur Palace is excellent...the staff (all of them), the rooms (high spec and spacious), the location (right in the centre with parking) and the breakfast (the four of us loved this).

We stayed here for 3 nights, 1 at the start of our holiday and 2 at the end. Both visits were excellent, both of the young guys on the desk are super helpful. Breakfast was great too! Would definitely recommend.
